It will only take two years for President William Ruto to send half of his cabinet packing over inexperience and unprofessionalism.

Political analyst and lawyer Martin Oloo made the remarks on Thursday, January 5 during an interview on Spice FM's morning show The Situation Room.

“In two years' time, God willing, he would have sacked half of his cabinet,

If you look at the total experience and professionalism, removing Njuguna Ndung’u and a few others, all of them combined, their experience is insignificant,” he added.

Oloo further alluded that it is for this reason that Ruto will launch his reelection campaign.

“He will then realise that he is carrying baggage and fires them,

“This is when he will kick off his reelection campaign, stating that it is because of his incompetent cabinet that he has not delivered, he remarked.

According to Oloo, Ruto has delivered politically by awarding allies government positions but will use that as a reason to kick them out.

"He had to deliver to Meru, Western and Coast. Looking for instance at the Ministry of Agriculture, does the cabinet secretary have what it takes to deliver? Where is the track record?"

Interestingly, legislators in October 2022 raised their concerns over the competence of Ruto's cabinet led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna who claimed that president William Ruto deliberately nominated incompetent individuals to his cabinet so as to run the ministries indirectly.

"There are good people in Kenya Kwanza but just by the names he has proposed, it is clear William Ruto wants to run all the ministries because we know the competencies of the people he nominated," he stated.

Ruto named his cabinet comprising of technocrats and politicians, largely those who supported his presidential bid and were instrumental in his win.

His cabinet included former vice president Musalia Mudavadi who was named the prime cabinet secretary, former Machakos governor Dr Alfred Mutua and former Speaker of the National Assembly  Justin Muturi who is the country's, Attorney General.

Legislators included in the cabinet were former Garissa Township MP Adan Duale, Alice Wahome (Kandara), Kipchuma Murkomen (Elgeyo Marakwet Senator) and Sopian Tuya (nominated).

Among technocrats appointed in the cabinet, Harriet Chigai was appointed as an advisor on women's rights, and former CS Energy Monica Juma as an advisor on national security with Mercy Wanjau as the secretary to the cabinet.

Contrary, former president Uhuru Kenyatta appointed technocrats in his cabinet that included, Fred Matiang'i (Interior), George Magoha (Education), Phyllis Kandie (Labour), Hassan Wario (Sports) and Judi Wakhungu (Environment).

President Ruto seemed to have a liking for having more politicians in the cabinet than technocrats, with many being his allies.

This is by his defence of Moses Kuria (Industrialization) stating that he is a good man when he is not a politician.

"Moses Kuria when he is not a politician, he is a very serious professional," he revealed in an interview with the media on Wednesday.

The president exuded confidence in Kuria and his team of three Permanent Secretaries to deliver their mandate in boosting the country's GDP.
