Before President William Ruto made his first media roundtable interview and a state of the nation address, he shared a light moment with journalists from different media houses.

A video that emerged on Thursday, January 5, showed KTN News veteran anchor Ali Manzu ushering the journalists into the interview room at State House Nairobi.

Manzu then introduced Ruto to various Swahili journalists including KBC's Nancy Okware, NTV's Frederick Muitiriri, Citizen TV's Nimrod Taabu and K24 TV's Daniel Kituu.

Before the interview commenced, Ruto shared a light moment with the journalists insisting that he was enjoying his presidency despite a myriad of setbacks.

"I'm fine but I'm struggling and hustling," Ruto stated before breaking into contagious laughter.

"We have different levels of struggling and hustling. But if you want to know more about my experience as President, we can talk in private. But it is a tough job," he added.

Ruto further bantered with the journalists stating that they were well prepared to pin him down with tough questions on his reign as the Head of State.

"I can see you are all well prepared. I can even lack an escape route," the commander-in-chief humorously joked.

To create a rapport with the interviewers, Ruto also inquired on how the journalists' families were fairing and handling workplace pressures.

"You should tell me how you are all fairing. I hope you have started the year on a positive note. I hope your children are also doing well," Ruto inquired.

Later, the Head of State appeared on air during the Swahili interview without his wedding ring, igniting mixed reactions from Kenyans online.

During his English interview, Ruto was compelled to clarify, insisting that he had forgotten his ring when he rushed to the session on time.

"I was in a hurry to come here, I was having some meetings in the office and I had to come here. They told me you have to dress up and go and in the process of all that, I forgot my ring," Ruto explained.
