President William Ruto may, after all, embody the hustler spirit after he revealed the low-cost value of his wedding ring when he married First Lady Rachel Ruto.

While appearing before a joint media interview at State House on Wednesday, January 4, the Head of State noted that the ring set him back Ksh700.

He further noted that he purchased the sentimental possessions at the famous Nagin Pattni outlet located along the infamous River Road.

"Let me tell you the story of the ring. When Rachel and I got married, we went to that fellow called Nagin Pattni along River Road and bought rings there. It was then Ksh700.

"My ring got tired along the way and broke. Rachel took so long to get a replacement," explained the Head of State.

The interview, which had been fashioned to address the distressed state of the nation, veered off to discuss the Head of State's ring finger after Ruto was spotted in an earlier interview without the wedding ring.

The question was first posed by Citizen TV News anchor Sam Gituku after the 7 pm interview caused debate online.

Ruto, however, explained that his wedding ring was missing because he left in a hurry to attend the interview and did not get time to put on the ring.

"In a hurry to come here, I was having some meetings in the office then they (handlers) told me to go dress up (for this interview).

"So, in the process of all that, I forgot my ring and it is very interesting that it became a subject of discussion. I thought we were having a very serious discussion," he clarified.

In a past interview, the Head of State noted that he met Rachel at a Church the two attended and both served an Evangelistic team called North Rift evangelistic team.

At the time, the duo would often be posted to numerous missions together where a love bond then grew between them.

They tied the knot in 1991 at the AIC church.
