The government simplified processes that individuals or business people must undertake before exporting their products to the international markets.

Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency (BrandKE) explains that every natural person and legal entity is legally allowed to participate in export businesses.

According to BrandKE, any Kenyan can be guided into opportunities in the international markets without making common mistakes that are costly

"The BRANDKE’s mandate is to implement export promotion and nation branding initiatives and policies to promote Kenya’s export of goods and services," Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency wrote on the website.

However, the agency explains simple procedures that businesspeople must undertake before exporting their products to foreign markets.

Kenyan businesspersons should consider three vital stages in the export economy

The first process is the registration procedure to obtain an export licence from the National Government.

Secondly, the businesspersons are required to acquire documentation that is needed for the exportation business.

The last process involves submitting documents for customs clearance by the tax authority.

There are two types of licenses - these are:

One-time export registration is restricted to single products sold to the international market.

The license is for regular export, allowing exporters to sell various goods to the international market on multiple occasions.

Kenya's revenue authority is by law mandated to carry out customs clearance for all goods that have been packed for export.

Exporters are required to prepare documents, including invoice cum packing list, before the movement of export cargo to the customs port.

In Kenya, export documents are filed electronically before goods are moved under the control of the custodian of cargo.

Kenya Export Promotion and Branding Agency warns that the accuracy of the information provided in the documents is very key.

Business people are advised to consider submitting the documents promptly, especially during customs clearance.

Kenya exports quality avocadoes, tea, and coffee, among other agricultural products.
