Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga was treated to a memorable birthday party as he turned 78 years old on Sunday, January 7.

From a video that surfaced online on Wednesday, January 11, Raila's birthday party was spectacular as it was staged inside a dhow in Mombasa.

The African Union High Representative for Infrastructure Development was pictured enjoying different coastal fruit juices while feeling the Indian Ocean breeze in a moving dhow.

Raila also enjoyed samosa delicacies and other traditional Coastal dishes while taking the ride on the Indian Ocean.

Other leaders, including Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir, Kilifi Senator Stewart Madzayo, Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga, and other local leaders, joined the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader.

Raila was later surprised with a birthday cake by his allies and some of his supporters, who were allowed to board the dhow and sail in the ocean.

"As I celebrate in beautiful Mombasa, I'd like to thank everyone who sent me warm birthday wishes," Raila shared in a statement on social media.

"Your kindness means a lot to me. I'm also grateful to those who joined me on this special day," Raila added on Sunday, January 7.

During the party, Raila donned his signature fedora hat, a floral beach shirt, and white pairs of pants.

The former Kibra MP later joined former President Uhuru Kenyatta, who also toured the Coastal region to iron out issues regarding Azimio.

After the meeting, Raila announced that Uhuru had not expressed interest in quitting his role in Azimio.

"Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is fully committed to Azimio, and those who believe Uhuru has abandoned the coalition are in for a rude awakening," Raila stated.

He added, "those claiming President Uhuru had dumped me are talking rubbish. I have been meeting the former president on several occasions. We even met while both of us are on holiday in Mombasa."
