Former President Uhuru Kenyatta seems to be enjoying his post-presidency life after he spent time at a floating restaurant in Mtwapa, Kilifi County, over the weekend.

Photos shared online by the Moorings Restaurant on Monday, January 9, showed the former commander-in-chief of the armed forces wearing a white polo shirt and sky-blue floral beach shorts.

According to Moorings, Uhuru arrived at the restaurant on Saturday, January 7 but it remained unclear when he landed at the coastal town.

The former Head of State savoured select seafood items during his short stay at the floating restaurant.

"Indeed, the former president was here with his family on Saturday for a private lunch where they savoured select seafood items from our diverse menu," the hotel manager the press.

He also interacted with the restaurant staff and even took a couple of photos to document his stay at the iconic restaurant.

"It was a great honour hosting His Excellency the fourth President of the Republic of Kenya, Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, yesterday at the Moorings," the restaurant wrote.

However, it is not clear who accompanied Uhuru on the trip to the coast and whether he left immediately or his stay was extended.

During his trip, Uhuru reportedly met the former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who was also celebrating his birthday.

Confirming their meeting during an address on Sunday, Raila stated that Uhuru confided in him that he had no plans to relinquish his role in Azimio.

The former Prime Minister insisted that Uhuru was committed and energised to continue with his role as Azimio Council chairperson.

"Those claiming President Uhuru had dumped me are talking rubbish. I have been meeting the former president on several occasions. We even met while both of us are on holiday in Mombasa," Raila stated during a church service at the ACK Memorial Cathedral in Mombasa.

"Former President Uhuru Kenyatta is fully committed to Azimio, and those who believe Uhuru has abandoned the coalition are in for a rude awakening," Raila added.
