CCTV footage from a popular nightclub in Marikani, Kilifi County revealed how a 27-year-old disk jockey was pushed down the stairs where he collapsed.

According to the family of the man who lost his life, police officers failed to take action despite having seen the footage.

The 2022 Christmas eve incident happened after the suspect, reportedly a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldier, differed with the DJ for failing to play his song request.

In addition, from the footage, the two are seen arguing outside the club before the man in a red shirt pushes the DJ also in a red shirt down the stairs where he collapsed as other revelers watched.

The KDF soldier went on to rant angrily throwing his hands in the air before he got back to the club.

However, none of the revelers appeared bothered by the commotion between the two even after the DJ was pushed to his death.

Following the incident, the victim's family was in and out of police stations as well as the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu Road in search of justice.

"The KDF soldier is known but there is no progress in the case. We are afraid that there will be no justice for our son," the family spokesperson told Nation.

"Through our investigations, we established that the KDF officer is still in office. Our questions is why will the police not make him record a statement," he added.

In addition, the family lamented that the local police station dodged questions on the suspect or anything relating to the murder case.

According to the postmortem report conducted on the deceased's body, the DJ succumbed to severe head injury and cardiac arrest.

Although he was buried in December 2022, the family called upon the police to ensure their kin gets justice for the brutal murder.
