With the sudden demise of Kasavuli, Qureshi stepped up to be the face of Legend Edition which airs prime-time news every Saturday at 9 PM.

He joined the media industry in 1990 as a news anchor at KTN where he co-anchored with Kasavuli who had joined from KBC.

Qureshi while mourning Kasavuli, revealed that he was mentored by the late TV star.

“When I joined KTN as a young man, I was introduced to Kasavuli who was welcoming and friendly,” Qureshi reminisced on being mentored by Kasavuli.

For 15 years, Qureishi anchored the news at KTN rising to become one of Kenya’s most celebrated TV stars.

In 2005, Qureshi quit KTN and headed to the United Kingdom (UK) where he worked for 10 years.

KTN managed to bring Qureshi back to Kenya and in 2015, he became a guest anchor for the then-newly launched KTN News.

In July 2021, Kasavuli and Qureshi had a reunion when the former created a Legend Edition at the National Broadcaster.

Kasavuli became the face of KBC’s 9 PM news with the other members of the legend edition occasionally anchoring.

At that time, Qureshi was shuttling between UK and Nairobi, Kenya to help with the Legend Edition.

He is expected to become the face of the Legend Edition with the aim of filling the shoes of the departed star who mentored him 32 years ago.
