TikTok has gradually become one of the most influential social media platforms not only among the youth but also among individuals from across the professional divide.

Even though he has been active on social media, Nairobi County Governor Johnson Sakaja had not considered joining TikTok until he met content creator Mbaka Wainaina.

Speaking on Saturday, January 29, Sakaja revealed that the 20-year-old was behind his new TikTok account.

This was after Kenyans raised questions regarding the identity of the one person the county boss was following on the platform.

“I can see everyone is asking who is the one person am following, it is my social media manager, follow her as well,” Sakaja announced while introducing her to the public.

Mbaka could also not hide her excitement as she shared the news of her success.

“Just me using TikTok every day because it is fun becoming the TikTok manager of one of the biggest politicians,” she stated ecstatically.

By the time of publishing this story, Sakaja's one-day-old TikTok account had already garnered over 160,000 followers and over 400,000 likes.

I am finally on Tik Tok, this is my actual page, let me know what to do next am new in the streets,” he noted in his first attempt to use the app.

The governor could also not hide his excitement after seeing the huge following and the suggestions he received from netizens in such a short period.

“I think am enjoying this. Thank you so much and I hope you are not in a noisy church. The tips are coming first, I will learn with time.

Though a famous TikToker, Mbaka came to the limelight during the campaigns ahead of the 2022 general election.

She had been campaigning for Azimio and pushed hard to influence her followers in voting for her fellow woman, NARC Kenya party leader, and Azimio running mate Martha Karua.

She worked closely with Diana Ngao, head of communications, Martha Karua's secretariat. She is also a co-founder of Girls for Girls Teens

TikTok has seen various politicians joining with Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga, inviting mixed reactions over his perceived conduct.

The high influence of social media also saw former president Uhuru Kenyatta making a comeback after a break of three years.
