The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS), through a public notice dated Monday, January 30, warned students of limited university slots.

The placement body advised 2022 Kenya Secondary Certificate of Education (KCSE) candidates to be keen when applying for the limited slots.

The placement service revealed that it had not yet opened the application portal but soon 2022 KCSE students will be given access to choose their preferred universities as well as courses.

“Once we open the portal, students will be required to do their first revision which is on the basis of applications.

If you miss applying during the second revision, the majority of the courses will not be available to apply for,” the placement body warned.

KUCCPS further revealed that courses like medicine, engineering, computer science, and other competitive courses had limited slots.

The placement body further stated that it will provide a guide for students on various courses offered by different universities and colleges.

“Once you access the portal, go to your dashboard and download pdfs available showing courses offered in various institutions,” KUCCPS advised.

“Do not go online to search for courses offered in any institution to avoid being misled, only use the pdfs provided by KUCCPS,” the placement body warned the students.

KUCCPS further detailed how students will apply for courses according to their KCSE mean grade.

Students who scored above C+ will be eligible to apply for degree courses while those who attained C plain and C- will apply for diploma courses.

“For students applying for degree courses, check if you meet all the minimum subject requirements and also the cut-off points,” KUCCPS advised.

The cut-off points will be calculated by KUCCPS and automatically posted on your portal.

“Those who scored below C+ will only use their grade or subject to check if they qualify for a specific course,” the placement body clarified.

Students applying for the different degree and diploma courses will pay an application fee of Ksh1,500.

“The application fee is not applicable to those who had applied while in their former secondary schools,” KUCCPS announced.

Students can access the KUCCPS portal by logging into www(dot)students(dot)kuccps(dot)net/login/
