Former Kass TV journalist was appointed by the Trade Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria as the acting Managing Director at the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest).
In a statement dated Tuesday, January 31, Kuria hailed the communication expert underlining her exceptional achievements in different organisations.
"The appointment tasks June with the responsibility of spearheading strategies to attract and grow investments to Kenya from the current Ksh62.2 billion (USD500 million) to Ksh1.2 trillion (USD10 billion) by the end of 2023," read part of the statement.
Chepkemei who was named among the Top 25 Women in Digital 2021 is a renowned business journalist. Her six-year stint in the media industry saw her rise through the ranks from a business news editor to a TV, and Radio talk show host.
"Thank you Moses Kuria for entrusting me with the huge task of positioning Kenya as an attractive investment destination. I am ready to serve," she stated after her appointment.
Before her appointment, she was the Manager, Marketing and Corporate Communications at Konza Technopolis Development Authority (KoTDA).
At Konza, she pioneered the Konza Innovation Ecosystem Initiative that brought together the various stakeholders within the industry.
Consequently, the initiative was ranked the third most inspiring solution by the International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP).
In 2022, she successfully led Kenya's team in a bid to host the 41st International Association of Science Parks and Areas of Innovation (IASP) world conference to be held in 2024.
The journalist holds a master's degree in Communication Studies from Moi University, a Bachelor's Degree in Public Relations and Communications from Moi University as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing of the UK.
Chepkemei is currently pursuing a PhD in Information Science. She is also a member of the Public Relations Society of Kenya (PRSK)
In addition, she has several publications, namely Factors Influencing Dominant Corporate Image Held by the Internal and External Publics, Corporate Identity in Image Building of Telecommunication Organisation in Kenya, and Building an Innovation Ecosystem and Circular Economy: A case of Konza Technopolis.
