Former President Uhuru Kenyatta's cabinet pledged to support children that their colleague, the late Prof George Magoha, was sponsoring.
Speaking during a meeting with the family in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 31, former Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i announced that they would fund the education of the students that were under Magoha's wings.
Matiang'i noted that the students were still in school and needed to be supported adding that Uhuru would lead the initiative.
He explained that his colleagues in the previous administration chose to honour the late CS by carrying on with his work.
"I am told that there are one or two things that Magoha was supporting. My cabinet colleagues under the leadership of our President(Uhuru) will make a contribution.
"Uhuru had already talked to me to talk with my colleagues and he is willing to support me. Let none of the children suffers on the account of our friend's departure," he announced.
The former CS added he had been tasked to be the link with the family acknowledging that they were supporting Magoha's family in the funeral arrangements.
'May the Lord shine His face upon you, May He hold you His Mighty Right hand. May the Lord bless you indeed. And for Micheal may the Lord bless you so that you sustain that name and generation. God will raise you up," the CS consoled the family.
On the other hand, he urged the current administration and education stakeholders to honour the departed scholar given his role in the country's education system.
He opined that a building or scholarship could be named after the former CS.
"I hope they will think about how we will immortalise Prof Magoha's contribution after Magoha. Maybe a university will start a scholarship and name it under Magoha,"
On his part, Uhuru noted that he would continue supporting the family till the end.
"We worked as a team. As such, you are also our team members. You are our family. You can count on us just as Magoha was there for us and our family," he stated.
