When Kirui Cheruiyot, 32, took to the streets of Nairobi holding a placard to appeal for a job, little did he know that his career life would hit fever pitch.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Cheruiyot stated that he is feeling overwhelmed after receiving close to 50 job offers since his story went viral.
The graduate of Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT) with a Master's degree in Public Health affirmed that he had narrowed down to 15 offers out of the 50.
Cheruiyot explained that he was looking at different factors before making his final decision - a move he hopes will be a turning point.
While detailing the offers, the graduate revealed a particular job offer from a private entity dealing with public health that has piqued his interest. He was, however, cagey in revealing more details of the offer.
In an appreciation post, Cheruiyot lauded Kenyans.co.ke for featuring his plight where he detailed his struggles.
"Hallelujah! The Lord God has Done it. Kenyans.co.ke and all who played a part. Thank you. Deal sealed. God bless you all," he stated.
While sharing his plight, the graduate noted that he would welcome any opportunity irrespective of the industry.
"I resorted to appealing in the streets of Nairobi after all my attempts to apply for jobs failed. I had applied to several institutions but nothing was forthcoming," Cheruiyot explained to Kenyans.co.ke on January 31, 2023.
Cheruiyot holds a bachelor's degree in Microbiology and Biotechnology from the University of Nairobi (UoN) after graduating in 2014.
The Kericho High School alumnus boasts of an impressive resume as he scored an A- (minus) in the 2008 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
He noted that after his frustrations went viral on Tuesday, January 31, he received a job offer in a hotel.
"I have a passion to help people, therefore, I would appreciate a job in my line of expertise but at the moment I am not picky," he noted.
Cheruiyot, who lives in Juja, Kiambu County pointed out that he resorted to quitting a job before joining JKUAT to focus on his studies. At the time, his family supported him through his education at the university.
