The successful candidate will replace Oguna who was one of former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s top key officials and assumed the role on May 7, 2019, replacing Eric Kiraithe.

Oguna came to the limelight due to his role as the person in-charge of the Kenya Defence Force (KDF) Public Affairs office and Spokesman for KDF at the onset of Operation Linda Nchi, a position he held between 2011-2013.

He was instrumental in giving Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) a public image by briefing Kenyans on the progress of the war in Somalia.

In October 2022, Oguna left the position after he was appointed by Siaya Governor James Orengo to serve as his Chief of Staff.
