Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, on Saturday, February 11, revealed that the late Prof George Magoha had requested him to help his sister secure a job.
While addressing mourners in Siaya, Machogu revealed that President Ruto had agreed to offer Magoha's sister a job.
However, the CS did not reveal more details of the offer. The Education CS also failed to reveal the sister's name.
"When Magoha was alive, he requested me to ensure the government considers his sister for a position," Machogu stated.
"And I want to inform you that the people of Gem that when I discussed with the President he agreed the request of Magoha and that sister is going to work in the government of Kenya," he added.
The late Magoha’s siblings are Mary Magdalene Owuor, Pauline Anyango Dola, and Joseph Magoha.
While defending the move to solicit a job for Magoha's sister, Machogu revealed that the late Education Cabinet Secretary had picked his son, Paul Machogu Junior, as his aide after he was appointed to head the Ministry of Education by former President Uhuru Kenyatta.
“Professor Magoha walked with that young man for three and a half years. Every place he went to, he was with Machogu junior. As a father, he imparted the necessary Christian values to that young man,” the CS narrated.
“It is from there that the two families became friends,” Machogu added.
The Education CS affirmed that he returned the favour in honour of his friendship with Magoha.
Further, Machogu appreciated Maseno University, which offered the deceased a job before he passed on Tuesday, January 24.
Magoha was laid to rest in his Yala home in Siaya County. Former President Uhuru Kenyatta, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and allied MPs were among the leaders in attendance.
