Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale on Thursday, February 23, faulted the burial of his 37-year-old nephew in the United States.

According to the Senator, Brian Khalwale, his nephew, was forcefully buried in the US against the wishes of his family.

Khalwale added that despite an attempt by the family to repatriate Brian’s body for burial, his mother acquired a visa and travelled to the US to bury him.

Moreover, he stated that the family did not approve of the move as she was using it as an opportunity to acquire US citizenship.

“I regret to announce to all the friends and relatives of my brother's son, the late Brian Khalwale, that he has been given a forced burial in the US despite our fierce objection.

“His mother capitalised on his death, got a visa, and travelled, hopping to immigrate to the US,” Khalwale stated.

Brian Khalwale died in November 2022, in a road accident after a car he was travelling in caught fire.

Police officers investigating the incident stated that although the fire was not started intentionally by another individual, the cause of the fire was determined.

The senator mourned his nephew, stating that his family loved him and his late father dearly.

“Saddenned to mourn Yul Brian Khalwale Ashiono, son of my late brother Gaeb Ashiono Khalwale, who died in a road accident on Federal Way in the US. Friends and relatives are meeting as we mourn,” the Senator stated.

In a separate incident, a Kenyan mother and daughter who had been missing for seven days were found dead inside their truck in Tahko, Finland.

The mother-daughter duo was running a food truck business in Finland and it was suspected that they inhaled the gas from the stoves they used for cooking.
