Embu and Kandara police stations issued a 30-day ultimatum to owners of unclaimed cars and motorcycles before the automobiles are put up for auction.

In a notice dated Friday, February 24, the two police stations indicated that the vehicles had not been claimed by the owners, leaving them idle at the police station grounds.

According to the notice, a total 11 cars and over 50 motorbikes were yet to be claimed by their owners at Embu Police Station.

The unclaimed car models at Embu Police Station included Toyota Corolla, Toyota Sprinter, Toyota Platz, Subaru and Salon 91.

"Failure to (pick up the cars), Makys Auctioneers shall proceed to dispose of the said properties by a way of public auction on behalf of Embu Police Station if they remain unclaimed," the notice indicated.

At the police station, over 50 motorcycles were listed in the unclaimed assets lying idle. The models included Dayun, Bronco, Skygo, Captain and Boxer.

Similar models were also listed in Kandara Police Station, which had over 60 motorcycles lying idle.

According to the notice, the listed vehicles and motorbikes would be subjected to a public auction process where interested buyers will make bids to possess them.

After the auction, the new owners would be allowed to obtain fresh registration from National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA).

However, Embu and Kandara Police Stations did not reveal why the vehicles and motorcycles remained unclaimed.

In most cases, law enforcement officers impound vehicles and motorbikes after flouting traffic rules.
