"Why does it look like this car will endanger my children?" were the words that popular Tiktoker Baba Mona's mother uttered minutes before they embarked on their fateful journey.
Little did she know that her premonition would turn to reality after the family received a call that Baba Mona, the daughter and his two sisters died in a tragic accident near Fort Ternan on the Londiani-Muhoroni road.
Speaking to Martin Dean's Youtube channel, Albert Osero: Baba Mona's younger brother, narrated the final moments leading to the fatal accident.
He noted that the day before the incident, Baba Mona experienced challenges with igniting the engine of a car he had rented for the journey.
"Before he took the car to drive, he drove the car at night but it had some mechanical issues. It took about one hour for him to start the car again.
"We thought it needed fuel or had developed mechanical failure. The mechanic who assisted him, however, ruled out the possibility of a mechanical failure," he indicated.
The following day, Baba Mona arrived to pick up Mona and his two sisters but their journey derailed after the car broke down again.
The mother, who was supposed to join them on their journey, stepped out of the vehicle as she sensed something was amiss.
"Our mother entered the car and sat in the back seat. She, however, sensed danger and uttered the words: Why does it look like this car will endanger my children?"
She alighted from the vehicle and we had to call the car owner. The owner expressed confidence in the car and noted that the problem could only be minor," he detailed.
An hour later, the car's engine ignited and Baba Mona embarked on the journey. According to Osero, the mother kept calling them as she was worried about their safety.
"She kept calling from time to time. However, one time she called and no one picked up. Our father called us later on and informed us that they were in an accident," he revealed.
Reports indicated that Baba Mona lost control causing the vehicle to roll several times.
