Senate Speaker Amason Kingi on Tuesday, February 28 revealed that the delay in effecting Azimio's House leadership changes was their own undoing.

Addressing the senators, Kingi intimated that the Leader of the Minority, Stewart Madzayo, wrote him a letter alerting him to maintain the leadership list as was.

He noted that based on that communication from the senator, his hands were tied on ruling the matter.

"Senators, why the inconsistency here? The letter from the Minority side is 'please do nothing until the case of the tribunal of the case is determined'. So what am I seeing today?

"This being the latest correspondence by the Minority Leader, I will abide by it and it is so communicated," Kingi ruled.

Before ruling on the matter, the Speaker read out the letter by Madzayo before he dismissed accusations that he was trying to prefect the opposition.

"Kindly note that as agreed, pending determination of the matter relating to the changes in the Minority side of the leadership, be notified that the Minority Whip and Deputy Minority Whip position status be maintained until the matter is heard and finally determined.

"Subsequently, any changes to be effected shall be simultaneously done to allow smooth transfer of leadership positions," the Speaker read.

Notably, he condemned a move by Azimio-affiliated senators to stage walkouts and disrupt senate sittings in a bid to have their way.

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina had accused Kingi and other session speakers of deliberately avoiding delivering the communication to effect the changes.

Azimio kicked out Isiolo Senator Fatuma Dullo as the Whip of the Minority side following her association with the Kenya Kwanza government.

She however challenged her ouster, filing a petition with the Political Parties Dispute Tribunal.

Senator Dullo was part of the team of Jubilee elected leaders who met President William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.
