The Mombasa-based airport was recognized as the best airport in Africa by ACI.

The survey determines a winner by compiling passengers’ experience at all airport passenger contact points.

In the survey, over 300 airports were considered with Moi International Airport topping in the continent.

“ASQ is the world's leading airport customer experience measurement and benchmarking program with close to 400 participating airports in 95 countries,” ACI lauded their selection criteria.

The win came as a huge boost to MIA which was still recovering from challenges that were brought by the pandemic.

“Despite the difficulties, MIA has continued to prioritize customer experience, demonstrating its commitment to providing passengers with a stress-free travel experience,” the airport revealed in a statement.

ACI World Director General, Luis Felipe de Oliveira congratulated MIA for such a momentous win.

"Selected by passengers, these awards are powered by the airport community, which includes airport employees and a range of other stakeholders.

I congratulate the whole team at Moi International Airport on their success in the Airport Service Quality Awards,” Felipe congratulated MIA.

While accepting the award, Kenya Airports Authority's (KAA) Managing Director Alex Gitari promised that MIA would continue offering exemplary customer service.

"At KAA, we are constantly striving to delight and enhance the experience of our customers.

This award encourages us to continue improving on our customer service offering and we sincerely thank our customers for their valuable feedback,” he remarked in his acceptance speech.

According to the Kenya Airports Authority, (KAA), "Moi International airport handles tremendous traffic with more than eighteen airlines flying directly from and to Europe, and offering connections to over twenty cities in the region."
