"The summit will bring together Heads of State and Government from 24 African countries with British and African business leaders.

"It will strengthen UK-African partnerships to create jobs and growth, support British and African talent in sectors such as finance and technology, and promote women entrepreneurs," read the statement in part.

The global transition to green energy was also set as an agenda for the event.

On his part, the UK PM noted that the event would be beneficial to the participants in unlocking opportunities for partnership and in turn create many opportunities for young people.

The 2024 event is set to become the second investment summit.

In the inaugural event held in 2020, deals worth Ksh997 billion (£6.5bn) were secured with another Ksh1.3 trillion (£8.9bn) pledged.
