The reporter noted that his crew were told that the parking was full and they had to park outside. after getting to the event at around 9 am.

"When the security officers told us to park outside, we did not know there were no CCTV cameras. However, since there were other cars parked outside, we were not alarmed," he stated.

Mogoa noted that the security team had assured them that one of them will be manning the area outside the hotel.

When the event ended at 12 pm, the team began packing their equipment and placing them inside the car.

"The driver advised that we should start packing the cameras into the vehicle to be ready to leave," read part of the statement.

However, after making several rounds to the car only to realise that the boot had been opened and the equipment was missing.

"We called the management and the security before we decided to report the matter to Parklands Police Station," the victims added.

The incident came amid assurance from the government security personnel that the city was safe from criminals targeting unsuspecting members of the public.
