Investigations into Jeff Mwathi's death on Friday, March 10, took a new twist as uncertainties emerged over the exit point on the building where the deceased fell from.
According to detectives who visited DJ Fatxo's apartment, the window where Mwathi is believed to have jumped from had grills making it impossible for an adult to jump through.
Instead, detectives are now considering whether the 23-year-old may have fallen from the rooftop.
Additionally, it was noted that the building's CCTV footage did not reveal which point of the building Mwathi fell from. The video only captured his body in the air before landing on the ground.
However, reports indicated that the police would still pursue both leads as they seek to unravel the mystery surrounding the death of the interior designer.
The new twist emerged after homicide detectives visited the apartments to collect evidence that could be helpful in the case.
DCI detectives visited the DJ's house and also recreated the scene on the ground floor where the body of the interior designer was found.
Mwathi's death case was taken over by homicide detectives after Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki intervened in the case.
Kindiki stated that the case was moved to the headquarters to allay fears that there might be a coverup in the case.
"On the matter of the late Jeff Mwathi, I have spoken to the DCI Amin this morning and instructed him to send a homicide team from the DCI headquarters to take the necessary action.
"I thank the DCI for his quick action on this matter. The homicide team from the DCI headquarters is dispassionate, which will help resolve the claims of collusion at Kasarani Police Station where the matter was reported," he stated.
Mwathi is reported to have fallen from the 10th floor a few minutes past 5 pm.
At the time of the fall, Mwathi was reported to be in the house with Fatxo's cousin and another man. The musician was away at the time of the fall.
