As first ladies across the 47 counties strive to make a difference in their communities, Zeinab Sebria is making a name for herself by balancing her roles as Tana River County First Lady and the Chief of Mororo location.

Sebria, the spouse of Governor Dhadho Godhana, in an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, March 15 revealed that she applied for a job as a national government administrator owing to her desire to make a difference in her community.

The First Lady divulged that she had ventured into business before applying for the position of chief. This allowed her to run various programmes for the youth in her county.

Following her engagements with the future generation, she noted that she wanted to make a difference in their lives and uplift their living standards.

Despite holding a high-ranking position, she asserted that her role as chief was more demanding as she had to make numerous engagements with community leaders.

"I cover a vast area and that takes for attention than my work as the First Lady. From Friday to Sunday, I work as a First Lady and the rest of the days I am here as a chief," she stated.

However, she explained that she had a number of initiatives that cut across her two roles adding that access to education was at the heart of her agenda.

"My aim is to ensure that all children go back to school as some work while others have been consumed by drug abuse," she stated.

On her biggest motivation, the provincial administrator indicated that her husband was her biggest supporter.

She indicated that Godhana occasionally advised her on the challenges she faced given his numerous years of service in government.

"The biggest problem is that in our community, many people view that a woman cannot help you so it becomes difficult when you go to the crowd to work. I try my best to show them that we can also make it.

"My husband was in the security sector and, therefore, the work I do compliments his work as the Governor. He really supports me and I thank him for that," the First Lady stated.

Godhana was elected as Tana River governor in the 2022 General Election on an Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party ticket.
