Azimio la Umoja Leader Raila Odinga on Thursday, March 16, threatened to sue President William Ruto over defamation claims.
Raila stated that he will be moving to court after Ruto claimed that he took part in the 1982 failed coup.
"I will be suing Ruto because the case was closed for lack of evidence against me," Raila stated in a charged rally in Nakuru.
The ODM Party Leader noted that the Kenya Kwanza Coalition leaders had savagely attacked his reputation without adducing evidence.

“I was discharged from treason charges after the courts found out that there was no evidence linking me to the 1982 attempted coup. Ruto has spoiled my name and I am going to sue him for defamation” Raila assured his supporters.
He stated that his reputation was under threat after President Ruto allegedly accused him of going against the constitution that guards all Kenyans.
President William Ruto on Wednesday, March 16, 2023, asked Raila to be true to his demands, noting that he was not genuine in his push for mass action.
On his part, Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua noted that the Kenya Kwanza government will deal with Raila once and for all.
However, Raila responded to Gachagua and stated that he was not afraid of anything -- not even death.
"You can kill me, but you can't kill the spirit of Raila that lives in the majority of Kenyans. “Even if you assassinate me, my spirit will live on. I am ready to pay the ultimate prize for Kenyans," the ODM Party Leader noted.
Raila also identified other Kenya Kwanza leaders who were spreading lies about him, noting that his supporters cannot destroy businesses.
“We have no business with anyone’s business. Kikuyus voted for me. They are my people. Our business on Monday will be to get back out stolen victory," Raila noted.
He noted that the Azimio La Umoja coalition cannot be intimidated by a government whose legitimacy, they claimed, "was not recognised".
“We shall not be intimidated by Ruto and Gachagua. Gachagua has no locus standi to talk about anything democracy," Raila noted.
