President William Ruto rewarded former Soy MP Caleb Kositany with a state job, appointing him as the Kenya Airports Authority Board of Directors Chairperson.
Kositany, according to a Gazette Notice dated March 15, will serve for three years, effective Friday, March 17.
"In exercise of the powers conferred by section 5 (1) (a) of the Kenya Airports Authority Act, as read together with section 51 (1) of the Interpretation and General Provisions Act, I, William Samoei Ruto, President and Commander-in-Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, appoint Caleb Kipkemoi Kositany to be the Chairperson of the Board of Directors of the Kenya Airports Authority," Ruto directed.
Kenya Airports Authority is an autonomous body that provides and manages all airports.
Kositany would spearhead the formulation of policies within the facilities.
The MP was excluded from the list of Chief Administrative Secretaries (CAS) nominees on Thursday, March 16, with questions raised on his relationship with the President.
Others excluded Purity Ngirici, who lost the Kirinyaga Gubernatorial race to Anne Waiguru and former Kisii Governor James Ongwae, who ditched Azimio for Kenya Kwanza after the August 2022 General Election.
Cleophas Malala also missed the list following his appointment as United Democratic Alliance (UDA) interim secretary general.
Ruto allies who headlined the CAS nomination list included Dennis Itumbi in the ICT sector, Isaac Mwaura as CAS in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary, while Millicent Omanga was picked to serve in the Ministry of Interior headed by CS Kithure Kindiki.
Benjamin Washiali, former Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, Bishop Margaret Wanjiru and former Bahati MP Kimani Ngunjiri were also nominated, pending approval by Parliament.
“By dint of the Executive Action, the nominations have been transmitted to the National Assembly for consideration and approval by Parliament in accordance with the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act (No. 33 of 2011).
"The Presidential Action is pursuant to Article 132(4)(a) of the Constitution," Felix Koskei, Ruto's Chief of Staff and Head of Public Service, stated on Thursday, March 16.
