Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Secretary General Edwin Sifuna on Tuesday, March 21, singled out two police officers who provoked peaceful Azimio demonstrators.
Speaking during a press conference at Parliament buildings, the vocal lawmaker singled out the Officer Commanding Station (OCS) at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).
Sifuna also went after a police officer who was caught on camera allegedly opening fire at protestors, revealing that he had already positively identified the officer.
"He ordered his subordinates to teargas us without any justification. The second one was captured aiming live rounds at us at Wabera street.
"We have identified him as an officer attached to the Directorate and Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Kilimani," Sifuna stated.
The Nairobi Senator confirmed that the party would file a formal complaint with the Independent Policing and Oversight Authority (IPOA) for investigation.
On his part, Suna East Member of Parliament (MP) Junet Mohamed maintained that police presence will not thwart their demonstrations against the Kenya Kwanza administration.
However, Junet made an offer to President William Ruto on how he could immediately end the demonstrations, which Azimio leader Raila Odinga announced will be happening every Monday.
"Declare that the price of a 2kg packet of unga is Ksh70, announce that the IEBC commissioners would be selected in a bi-partisan manner and servers would be open and announce that the fuel prices would drop," he stated.
In an earlier press conference, UDA lawmakers condemned the demonstrations, which caused massive losses after total shutdown of the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).
The Leader of the Majority in the National Assembly Kimani Ichung'wah piled pressure on the Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome to ensure that Azimio leader Raila Odinga is held accountable.
On March 20, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kindure Kithiki commended the police for restraining themselves and handling the demos professionally.
