Jaoko Oburu, Son of Oburu Odinga, Shortlisted for Govt Job

Jaoko Oburu Odinga, son of Senator Oburu Oginga was shortlisted by the Siaya County Public Service Board for the position of partnerships and resource mobilisation coordinator.

Jaoko was among the 18 candidates scheduled for an interview on April 13, at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga University of Science and Technology in Bondo.

According to the Public service Board, the shortlisted candidates will be subjected to a written interview before taking an oral interview the same day.

“Siaya County Public Service Board wishes to notify all the applicants for the positions listed below in the Governance and Administration Department which were earlier advertised in the dailies of the interview,” the statement from the county government read in part. 

Roles for the successful candidates include being a link between the Siaya County government and investment opportunities by developing and maintaining a database of donors, project concept notes and project proposals

Additionally, they will prescribe, lead and conduct market research and marketing initiatives to assess donor priorities and identify opportunities for resource mobilisation for the county.

Other responsibilities attached to the post include the production of content for communication materials that support fundraising such as brochures, appeals, newsletters, annual reports and their reviews. 

In the run-up to the 2022 General Election, Jaoko was part of the team that rallied support for Azimio leader Raila Odinga. 

He pledged his support to Raila and withdrew his candidature for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat to focus on campaigning for Azimio.

“I appreciate all the encouragement for me to throw my hat into the ring for the Lang’ata parliamentary seat. 

“At this point however, I’m focused on helping Baba to become the fifth president of the Republic of Kenya,” stated Jaoko in January 2022. 

In addition, he served as Siaya County’s Roads and Public Works Executive under the leadership of former  governor Cornel Rasanga.
