26-year-old Caroline Wambui Ngunjiri has produced several celebrity shows including the Sol Family, Kyallo Kulture and the Real Housewives of Nairobi.

Younger Wambui’s dream, however, was to become a pilot like renowned Kenyan pilot Koki Mutungi.

In support of her dream, her father enrolled her in a flying school where she began her journey towards becoming a pilot.

In an interview with the Sunday, March 26 Weekly Review however, Wambui revealed that she dropped out of flying school at the age of 18, just after she had obtained her private standard licence.

She detailed that she had just completed and passed her flying radio exams when she received her placement at Maseno University by the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS).

Wambui added that because her father was traditional and was running out of finances to pay for her flying classes, she was forced to join the university and pursue International Relations.

“I was supposed to be a pilot and had begun my classes then I deferred, but when I was ready to go back, life happened.

"I wasn't interested in going to university at this point, but according to my father, who is very traditional, when you get called to university, you have to go," Wambui explained.

At Maseno, the head of Media Production at Documentary and Reality TV studios (D&R)  engaged in a lot of co-curricular activities including United Nations clubs, modelling and doing brand activations

During a movie premier in Kisumu while still in campus, Caroline met executives from the Kenya film industry and expressed her interest in volunteering for their marketing positions and was called once there was an available position.

“That’s actually how I managed to network with one of our directors at D&R, Mwaniki Mageria,” added Wambui.

The directors at Documentary and Reality TV studios were impressed with Caroline’s work ethic and personality and helped her to secure a job at the organisation.

“I think they could see that I really wanted to learn and understand. They saw the passion in me and I am grateful that they were patient enough,” noted the producer.

She stated that she still had interest in flying but had since fallen in love with film and production where she had met and worked with Kenyan celebrities and renowned film makers and actors.
