Retired President Uhuru Kenyatta's family member had to shoot in the air to prevent the attackers from seizing properties on the other side of the Northlands farm.

Sources privy to the matter, who spoke to the media, intimated that the shots scared the invaders who only stayed within a section of the expansive farm.

Reports also indicated that the private security guards, hired by the Kenyatta family, bore the brunt of the attack as the invaders destroyed their homes and belongings.

Another source within the security detail also stated that police commanders from Kiambu County were held in a meeting for the better part of Monday, March 27, and responded after they received a report they claimed was filed at around 3:00 pm.

At the time, the invaders had cut down trees and stole at least 1,400 heads of sheep valued approximately at Ksh70 million.

The sources revealed that only Brookside company is guarded by the State while the rest of the Northlands farm is protected by private security firms.

Days after the Northlands farm was attacked, the management began repairing the damage and also enhanced security around the farm.

This involved deploying more police officers for a 24-hour surveillance and hiring German Shepherds to keep intruders at bay.

An excavator was also captured clearing the bush next to the fence. Locals within the area revealed that the aim was to aid police officers to patrol the fence.

Former Ruiru deputy mayor, Peter Mwaura, had initially disclosed that the intruders were transported from Ruai to the Northlands farm in Kiambu County.

He added that the goons were promised parcels of land when they were ferried to a hotel that is located near the farm. He wondered how the police officers were not swift in responding to the situation.

"Ordinarily, if you attempt to step into that land, more than ten police officers come there. We have Gatongora, Ruiru, and Ruai police Stations but the police were not there. It seemed weird to us," he stated.

On Wednesday, March 29, Interior CS Kithure Kindiki affirmed that more security officers would be deployed to guard private and public properties.
