Bruno Shioso Among 12 Shortlisted for Deputy IG Job [FULL LIST]

The National Police Service Commission (NPSC)  on Thursday, March 30, shortlisted 12 candidates for the position of the Deputy Inspector General of the Kenya Police Service.

The Eliud Kinuthia-led commission is in a race against time to replace Edward Mbugua who retired after attaining the mandatory retirement age.

Abdalla Komesha replaced Mbugua in an acting capacity as the recruitment process takes place. He also applied for the position and has made it to the shortlist.

Three out of the 12 people are women which represents 25 per cent of the shortlist.

Shortlisted female candidates include Jacinta Muthoni, Rosemary Sipatan, and Judy Jebet.

Jacinta Muthoni is an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG). She is the current Director of Reforms at the Kenya Police Service Headquarters with her office at Vigilance House, Nairobi.

She was the first female Staff Officer at the Department of Personnel at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) headquarters along Kiambu road. She is also the second female Traffic Commandant.

Other personalities who have been shortlisted include Bruno Shioso who is the former National Police Service (NPS) spokesperson. He is currently the Commandant of the National Police Service (NPS) College based in Kiganjo, Nyeri County.

David Rono Bunei is another prominent personality on the shortlist. He is the North-Eastern region police commander. He has been instrumental in dealing with the Al-Shabaab menace that has plagued the North Eastern region for decades.

Adamson Bungei, the current Nairobi Regional Commander, missed out on the shortlist, after featuring among 30 applicants. He was appointed the Nairobi police boss by Inspector General Japhet Koome in November 2022. Before this role, Bungei was the Turkana Central Police Boss.

The full list includes:

Birech David Kipkosgei, Bunei David Rono, Makokha Vincent Kinas, Kabogo Jacinta Muthoni, Kiplagat Maurice Kipkoech, and Kirocho Douglas Kanja.

Others include: Kuraru Rosemary Sipatan, Mwatsefu Abdalla Komesha, Lamet Judy Jebet, Nyale Munga Gideon, Odera Tom Mboya, and Shioso Bruno Isohi.

"The candidates are invited to appear for interviews, on Tuesday, April 4, The venue for the interview will be at the Kenya School of Government, Lower Kabete, Nairobi," the announcement read in part.

On the interview day, candidates were advised to carry national Identity Cards, academic certificates, any supporting documents, and clearance certificates from various institutions.
