Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris on Thursday, March 30, offered Ksh100,000 to find Ashlay Nyaboke, who has been missing for a week after flash floods ravaged her home.

Passaris offered the reward money to help find Nyaboke who might have been swept downstream the Nairobi River while asleep in her home in Wakuru area, Kangemi on March 24.

She expressed hope that the 12-year-old was still alive and asked the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF)  and foreign countries to facilitate the search mission.

" If you live along the Nairobi River, we need your help. I'm offering a reward of KES 100,000 to anyone who can help us find Ashlay. We need to band together as a community and bring her home!

"Can the KDF And Foreign Embassies provide the necessary equipment to aid in the search?" Passaris pleaded

The legislator further lamented the dysfunctional nature of the disaster management and response systems in the country over the delay in finding Nyaboke.

"Was she able to cling onto life, or is her fragile body now lying in a cold, lonely mortuary? It's hard to say whether we're looking for a living or a lifeless Ashlay," she pointed out.

Passaris further condemned how her family was left to deal with her tragedy alone, with no update from the authorities nor counseling offered.

Kenyans wondered why the Water Police Unit recently commissioned by Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki had not launched a search operation to find the Grade Six pupil or at least recover.

Volunteers who joined the search intimated that the activity was hindered by heavy rainfall witnessed in the country in the past week. They have since recovered a Bible belonging to Nyaboke.

However, they complained that despite asking for help from the police, the officers only asked for the girl's photo so they could file a missing persons report.

The family pleaded with the government to help find her daughter who has swept away on March 23 at 5 a.m
