Government pathologist Johansen Oduor on Friday, March 31, detailed the processes conducted on Jeff Mwathi's body as detectives seek to unravel the mystery around his death.

According to the pathologist, he took various samples from the body, which will undergo a toxicology test to determine whether the deceased was intoxicated at the time of his death.

On the other hand, other another sample was taken from the anal area to unravel whether the interior designer may have been sodomised at the time of his death.

During the second autopsy, Oduor revealed that the deceased had a neck fracture, consistent with the detective's findings that Mwathi had serious injuries at the time of his death.

"There were allegations of sodomy, and we have taken some swaps, which will undergo DNA testing. We have also taken some samples for toxicology analysis to know if toxins were involved.

"He also had fractures in the neck. This is someone who died of severe injuries and we need to look into it," he stated.

On the other hand, Rift Valley region DCI boss, Francis Wanjau, explained that they had to keenly dig out the body for hours as they did not want to interfere with the body.

He noted any blunder by the detectives, such as a scratch on the body, would have led to new issues in the case.

"The process is very delicate and important. Even in the event that they inflict a new injury it will introduce new matters. That is why we have to take time during the process," the DCI boss explained.

During the Friday, March 31 autopsy, detectives also measured the size of Mwathi's chest to ascertain whether the size was consistent with that taken at the crime scene.

Mwathi died on February 8, while visiting the house of popular Mugithi musician Lawrence Njuguna alias DJ Fatxo in Kasarani.

Earlier, his death had been ruled as suicide. However, after the intervention of DCI boss Amin Mohamed, it was established that the detectives were pursuing other leads on foul play.

Mwathi was reported to have fallen from the 10th floor of the highrise building - claims that were refuted by the detectives owing to the size of the windows.
