Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni was on Friday, March 31, accused of supplying the government with pink water used by the police to manage protesters.

Led by the National Assembly leader of the minority, Opiyo Wandayi, the Raila Odinga-led faction alleged that Museveni was meddling in the country's affairs and assisting President William Ruto in dealing with the demos.

Wandayi stated they had credible information, even as they warned Uganda that the move would backfire .

The MP explained that Uganda depended on Kenya given that most of their goods were transported by road - with the Kisumu - Busia Highway being the main corridor.

"That coloured water used in the protests on Thursday, March 30, was coming from Museveni.

"He needs to remember that his goods are passing through our land here (Kisumu - Busia) highway. He is forgetting," the MP stated.

Wandayi explained that the police attacked them and damaged a number of the vehicles during the Thursday protests.

He maintained that Azimio would continue their protests against the government with the Monday, April 3, protests expected to escalate.

"On Monday, April, 3, there will be another demonstration. This will be the mother of all demonstrations, irrespective of what our detractors say or think," Raila echoed.

The use of the pink water cannons was witnessed since the beginning of the Azimio demonstrations on March 20.

In previous demos, police have used regular water.  Pink water is used to help the police identify protesters after demonstrations as they stick on the body and clothes for hours before coming off.

Notably, Azimio's claims could not be ascertained as the police and the government of Uganda are yet to respond to the allegations.

Museveni and Uganda authorities have yet to respond to Azimio La Umoja allegations.
