The children of a US couple who were murdered in their home in Nyamira County on Sunday, April 2, appealed to Minister for Interior Kithure Kindiki and the US government to ensure quick investigations into the deaths of their parents.

Four of the children, who were based in the US stated that they were not sure of their safety if they travelled back to Kenya.

They noted that they were supposed to bury their parents at their home in Kenya but they feared that they were targeted because the perpetrators had not been arrested.

Cliff Nyagechi, Joseph Nyagechi, Winnie Nyakanga, and Caroline Nyagechi condemned the brutal murder of their parents in Kenya.

"Never in my life did I ever think that I will mourn the brutal killing of my parents. It is very painful. Look at us, we are just young children. We don't know where to start.

“We do not know if it will be safe to go to Kenya for the burial of our parents,” Caroline who is a junior college medical student in the US stated.

Raphael Morema, their sibling based in Kenya in an interview after the postmortem results of the couple, pleaded with the police to give a conclusive report.

“Police officers should try as fast as they can to arrest those individuals and give us a conclusive report so that we can get justice,” Raphael stated.

According to the postmortem results released on March 31, Edward Morema was hit two times on his head with a blunt object and sustained three stab injuries on his ribs while his wife Grace Morema died out of strangulation.

Police officers stated that the culprits dismantled the CCTV from the house before locking the door and leaving the scene of crime.

Neighbours of the couple in Minnesota USA also launched a petition to push the US government to intervene and seek justice for the family.

Reportedly, the couple was in the country on vacation.
