The spouse of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua added that her mother guided them through their struggles encouraging them under the guidance of the word of God.

"That is why I can feel the heartbeat of street children because I have been there. I know how it is to be without food and I know how it is to be without clothes. It was so cold that one of my sisters died of pneumonia.

"My mother prayed for us. She spoke words of power and authority over us. She told us not to worry as God would watch over us as the children of a widow," she stated.

The Second Lady also emphasised that the boys were the biggest victims of the poverty facing families as they moved to the streets to fend for their families.

She maintained that she would continue with her initiatives to empower the boychild who she stated was losing out on important opportunities.

"Any time the devil wanted to destroy a nation, he went for the boychild. We may not look at it that way, but it is.

"We can not have them (boys)  in the gutter and on the other side have women who are well-resourced and well-educated," she stated.

The Second Lady was in the US to lobby for funds for her projects.

During the interview, her story inspired the lead show host who challenged leaders in America to emulate the pastor.

"Isn't it wonderful that this is happening in Kenya? Let us just challenge ourselves. Can we have this happening in the streets of Chicago, and Baltimore? Let us be mentors of good men," the journalist appealed.
