Saitabao Ole Kanchory, Raila Odinga's Chief Agent, during the August 2022 General Election on Thursday, April 13, claimed that Muhoho Kenyatta was hoodwinked in managing the polls.

Kanchory, in a media interview, stated that Muhoho, brother of former President Uhuru Kenyatta, was tasked with managing the election command centre. He lifted the lid, indicating that the nerve centre was well-equipped to monitor the polls.

However, Muhoho was allegedly manipulated and easily convinced to change strategies at the last minute, which messed up the whole poll management process.

Kanchory stated that he had listed in his book, 'Why Baba is not The 5th', individuals including former ICT Cabinet Secretary Joe Mucheru and former  Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho, who were close to Muhoho at the command centre.

Nonetheless, Kanchory lauded former President Uhuru Kenyatta's brother stating that he was brilliant and organised at fast.

"I was very convinced that he meant well. He is a brilliant and decent human being. But I will never understand how he watched the whole command centre, which was practically in his control," Kanchory stated during an interview on KTN News.

"He was fooled, and I do not believe it was a long con, but for someone as brilliant as Muhoho Kenyatta to have swallowed lies and bait and been fooled by other players is a matter that is confounding, to say the least," he added.

Besides having a fully funded command centre, wrangles over control of resources derailed the poll management process, Kanchory alleged.

Additionally, Kachory revealed that the national chief agents' team, which consisted of lawyer Paul Mwangi, Caroline Karugu, Isaiah Kindiki and Odour Ogwen, was locked out of the command centre.

"The command centre had resources, but the national chief agents' team was locked out," he stated.

"The command centre was hijacked by some players, and there was a push and pull between those players on who will control those resources," he insisted.

Kanchory also blamed top officials in Azimio la Umoja for disengaging in the polls management.

He observed that Raila and his then-running mate Martha Karua rarely visited the command centre to understand elections management.

According to Kanchory, he only met Raila at the Supreme Court while filing the petition challenging President William Ruto's win.
