Devki Group Executive Chairman Narendra Raval on Wednesday, April 12,  stated that Kenya could become one of the richest countries in the world if it stops heavy importation.

Appearing on JKLive, the entrepreneur and business mogul, argued that the country should stop depending on imports from the likes of China and move towards industrialisation.

The business guru added that the move will create more employment opportunities and thus significantly boost the economy.

"Even if my son or your son is 10 per cent less clever, still he is the best.

"In reality, we should support Kenyan products not on the papers, not in the speeches, not in the policies. In the act.

“So If we support the importation of the things which are made in the country, Kenya would be the richest country," he commented.

Raval, who is of Indian origin, further explained that through industrialisation, the government would reduce the high rate of unemployment.

He also linked importation with the food crisis that is often experienced in most parts of the country, stating that one of the ways to end it is by promoting local businesses.

"If we removed unemployment, we will not have the problem of food crisis because people will have the money to buy it.

"They can afford to buy Unga at Ksh 300 a packet if they have income," he explained.

Raval was recently appointed by President William Ruto to lead a task force entrusted with the establishment of a national lottery.

The proceeds from the lottery would be used for good causes, including the amelioration of the plight of individuals in need in society.
