The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) on Saturday, April 15, stated that its sleuths had arrested two suspects in collection with the murder of a Utalii College student.
The 25-year-old Job Chihonyi was reportedly murdered on February 5, 2023, along Thika Road, barely metres from his campus.
Detectives based in Starehe, working with their colleagues from Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau, apprehended the suspects after an extensive forensic examination of evidence and the crime scene.
"Maxwel Omukuba Shisika and Kevin Ngechu Wanjiru, both 21 years old were arrested following a scrupulous forensic investigation that placed them at the crime scene during the commission of the heinous act," read part of the DCI statement.

The knife-wielding gang was accused of accosting the suspect and demanding his valuables as he made his way to college.
"Just a few metres from Utalii College, they robbed him of his mobile phone before driving a knife through his chest, leaving him sprawled on the ground and getting away using a motorcycle," DCI claimed.
According to the detectives, efforts by well-wishers to save Chihonyi’s life turned futile as he was pronounced dead on arrival at Guru Nanak Hospital.
DCI sleuths then arrived at the scene to collect the evidence that was eventually analysed in the crime laboratory, positively identifying the suspects.
Crime Research and Intelligence Bureau used the available evidence to join the missing links in a meticulous probe that placed the suspects at the crime scene.
The forensic investigations led police officers to Kariobangi North, where the two suspects were traced and arrested from their hideout.
At the crime scene, the police officers matched the suspects' identities to the evidence collected from the crime scene.
"A knife suspected to have been used to commit the murder was recovered from Maxwell Omukuba and kept as an exhibit ahead of forensic analysis," DCI stated.
Detectives also recovered a mobile phone believed to be the proceeds of the crime, while a black motorcycle used as a getaway means on the fateful day was also retrieved.
"The two are currently in custody as they await to answer to charges of murder, contrary section 203 as read with Section 204 of the Penal Code," DCI confirmed.
