Former President Uhuru's sister, Kristina Pratt, made her first public appearance on Monday, April 24, months after losing the Jubilee nomination.

Pratt, accompanied by other members of the Board of Trustees of the National Fund for the Disabled of Kenya, met President William Ruto at the State House in Nairobi.

During the meeting, Pratt briefed Ruto on her agenda and her organisation's role in advocating for the rights of physically challenged individuals in the country.

The board also shared some of their achievements and long-term goals with the Head of State in their first meeting since the transition of power.

After the brief, Ruto vowed to support the board led by Pratt in line with his Bottom Up Economic Model.

"The Government will support people living with disabilities and the institutions that work to empower them," a despatch from State House read in part.

"We will keep our promises to this community and ensure it is a full part of the Bottom Up Economic Transformation Agenda," Ruto added.

Her contribution to the sector is immense, spanning over 4 decades. Pratt's achievements include establishing the Kenya Insitute of Special Education (KISE) to train special needs tutors.

In 1980, Pratt was recognised by former US President Jimmy Carter following her contribution to empowering Persons with Disabilities (PWD).

Her entry into politics was imminent after Jubilee Party nominated her for a senate position on July 27, 2022. However, she failed to make the cut.

Pratt's meeting with Ruto came days after Mama Ngina made a rare public appearance on Thursday, April 20, urging Kenyans to maintain peace for the country's development.

"You being the younger generation, I plead that you continue maintaining peace for this country, and you should know that we brought this country from far.

"We are here to show you an example of how that is possible," the former first lady stated.

Mama Ngina spoke after aiding Field Marshall Muthoni Kirima to clear a Ksh4.7 million bank loan and bought her a three-bedroomed house.
