Former First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta, on Thursday, April 20, pleaded with Kenyans to maintain peace for the country's development.

In a special message, the Country's former First Lady underscored the progress made by various leaders since independence, arguing the younger generation to preserve those tenents.

Among the key issues she highlighted included the need to maintain various freedoms granted to Kenyans in the battle for Kenya's independence.

Mama Ngina thus implored Kenyans to emulate Mau Mau and other veteran leaders to stabilise the country politically and economically.

"You being the younger generation, I plead that you continue maintaining peace for this country, and you should know that we brought this country from far.

"We are here to show you an example of how that is possible," Mama Ngina, accompanied by Field Marshal Muthomi Kirima, insisted.

Besides calling for peace, she applauded Kenyans for their zeal to build the nation.

"Nowadays people know almost everything and also do a lot of work in this country, so I would really to appreciate you for that," she stated.

President (Rtd) Uhuru Kenyatta's mother, however, did not speak on the raid on her Northlands City along Thika Superhighway and Eastern bypass.

Mama Ngina spoke with the press after receiving Field Marshall Kirima at her home in Muthaiga. The former First Lady aided the Mau Mau veteran to clear a Ksh4.7 million bank loan and bought her a three-bedroomed house.

This was Mama Ngina's second public appearance in 2023. On Saturday, February 4, she called out a section of political leaders for accusing her family of not paying taxes.

Speaking at the St. Teresa's Catholic Church in Mpeketoni, Lamu County, Uhuru's mother dared the government to seize her property upon proof of the reports that her family was evading paying taxes.

The former First Lady further maintained that those who did not pay taxes ought to be prosecuted according to law.

“It is a fact that every employed Kenyan should pay income tax, irrespective of their job group. That is not up for discussion. There is no need to malign someone, to seem as though you are doing something,” she stated.

"Even if it is me, that I have foregone a year without paying taxes, let my wealth be confiscated so that it can help pay the taxes," she added.
