Jubilee Vice Chairperson David Murathe on Wednesday, April 26, affirmed that the party welcomed the move to vacate its headquarters based in Kileleshwa, Nairobi, following a notice from the property's owner.

Speaking to NTV, Murathe opined that the party was not confined to a specific location explaining that the team had options to relocate to different offices.

He added that the officials comprising Jubilee's Secretary-General Jeremiah Kioni were the official symbol of the party.

"I would agree with them. The party is not domiciled in a location, we have so many offices you would be shocked. What happens is that we can move.

"We were in Pangani and moved and we can still relocate. Where the party officials are, that's where the party is," he stated.

Murathe also dispelled claims that Kioni had locked out East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP Kanini Kega from accessing the office premises, indicating that he shielded himself from the scuffle to escape the chaos.

In turn, he apologised to the Kileleshwa neighbourhood for the commotion caused by the warring factions.

"The SG (Kioni) had to block the gate from inside using his own car. When they could not access it, they began throwing stones.

"Imagine if he would have opened the offices to stone-throwing gangs, they would have destroyed the property of a gracious lady who has allowed us to use her premises. We apologise to the neighbourhood association," he stated.

The scuffle ensued after Kega's supporters claimed to have been denied entry into the office - leading to a clash with Kioni's supporters.

A statement from the property's owner later indicated that the party had violated the lease terms due to the scuffle.

"As you are aware, goons descended on Dik Dik Gardens due to your occupation of my premises.

"Your tenancy has exposed our neighbours and neighbourhood to unwarranted insecurity," the owner indicated.

Kioni and Kega have been at loggerheads for weeks over who is legally regarded as the former ruling party's Secretary-General.
