PSC Shortlists Kamau Thugge & Nancy Onyango to Replace CBK Governor Patrick Njoroge

The Public Service Commission (PSC) on Tuesday, May 2, shortlisted former Treasury Principal Secretary Kamau Thugge in the race to replace Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) Governor Patrick Njoroge.

Thugge was among six candidates shortlisted for the job to replace Njoroge whose term is about to run out since his reappointed in 2019.

Other candidates on the list were Dorcas Muthoni Mutonyi, Haron Sirima, Edward Sambili, Nancy Onyango, and Adan Abdulla Mohamed.

"Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on the date and time indicated. Candidates should be at the venue at least 15 minutes before the starting time," read part of the statement.

Each of the candidates was expected to appear before the meeting committee at different time periods on Tuesday, May 9, 2023.

All candidates were also required to produce originals of several documents including the National Identity Card, Academic and Professional certificates and transcripts, and other supporting documents as well as testimonials.

Furthermore, each candidate will be required to produce current and valid clearances from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a registered Credit Reference Bureau, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a printed online self-declaration application acknowledgment receipt or a self-declaration form duly stamped for the job application by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

Finally, each applicant should have a letter of recognition of qualification from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for candidates who possess degrees from foreign universities and a recommendation from relevant professional bodies and associations where applicable.

Furthermore, PSC urged members of the public to avail any credible information on the mentioned candidates through a sworn affidavit to the Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission.

The submissions should be submitted either physically at the PSC offices fourth flour Commission House or online through, hodrands@publicservice.go.ke before May 8, 2023.

Notably, Njoroge has served for eight years and is set to leave office on June 17, 2023. Both the CBK governor and deputy governors hold the offices for a four-year term in the first appointment but are eligible for reappointment for one more term.

The governor is responsible for the overall management of the bank as well as playing the role of the Bank's official spokesperson.
