Chebukati Wife Shortlisted for CRA Chair After Missing Principal Secretary Job

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairperson Wafula Chebukati's wife Mary Chebukati Wanyonyi was shortlisted to fill the position of Chairperson at the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA).

Mary is among  9 other candidates eyeing the government job.

They include Maurice Odhiambo Onyango, Hussein Elema Dima, Charles Githinji Gathuto, Esther J. Joimett, Paul Kuria Kamau, Felicity Nkirote Biriri, Thomas Ludindi Mwadeghu, John Njeri Njagi, and Moses K. Lessonet.

"Shortlisted candidates will be interviewed at the Public Service Commission, Commission House, Harambee Avenue, Nairobi on the date and time indicated. Candidates should be at the venue at least fifteen (15) minutes before the starting time," read part of the statement from PSC.

The candidates are expected to attend interviews on Wednesday, May 10, and Thursday, May 11, 2023.

All candidates are required to produce original copies of several documents including National Identity Cards, academic and professional certificates, and transcripts as well as other supporting documents and testimonials.

Additionally, they are required to provide clearance forms from the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA), Higher Education Loans Board (HELB), a registered Credit Reference Bureau, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), and a printed online self-declaration application acknowledgment receipt or a self-declaration form duly stamped for the job application by the Ethic and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).

According to the PSC, the candidate should have a letter of recognition of qualifications from the Commission for University Education (CUE) for candidates who possess degrees from foreign universities and recommendations from relevant professional bodies.

To the public, PSC urged them to share any credible information of interest relating to any of the shortlisted candidates either online or physically.

The submissions should be sent before May 9, 2023.

In October 2022, Mary was shortlisted for the position of principal secretary among 477 other candidates.

She previously worked in the Ministry of Treasury, as the Director General in charge of Accounting and Quality Assurance.

Mary also served in the Ministry of Lands and Physical Planning as a Senior Deputy Accountant General. 

She holds a Bachelor's Degree in Commerce and a Master's in Business Administration, she is also a Certified Public Accountant (CPA-K).

Her husband, Wafula Chebukati left IEBC on January 17, after completing his constitutional tenure, during which he oversaw two General Elections in 2017 and 2022.
