Kenya Power on Wednesday, May 3 acted after Kenyan raised concern over a transform that almost caught fire in the estate.

In the 15-second video, it was alleged that the repairs had been done recently but were clearly faulty.

Kenyans were concerned about the lurking danger posed by the transformer just next to an occupied apartment.

"Good morning, kindly share your telephone number and a nearby landmark such as a school for further assistance," Kenya Power stated.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, the concerned Kenyan who raised the concerns affirmed that Kenya Power reached out and fixed the issue before it escalated.

This was among a number of transformer-related issues raised by Kenyans for the utility firm to address.

From Bomet County, Kenya Power was alerted of a stolen transformer that was found dumped along the road by suspected goons.

Kenya Power sought to get the person's phone number and forwarded it to the technical team for follow-up.

Another user shared photos of a transformer with exposed wires that pose a danger to the public as it was close to a balcony in the nearby apartment.

"Hello, thank you for the report, if you live within the vicinity, please share your account/meter number and active contact for us to follow up with the emergency team," Kenya Power detailed.

On April 24, Energy Principal Secretary (PS) Alex Wachira blamed the frequent countrywide blackouts on transformer vandals.

According to the PS, an average of 20 transformers are stolen every week countrywide due to the high demand for copper wires in the black market.

He further asked the parliament to impose heavy fines and sentenced anyone found guilty of vandalising the transformers.
