On Friday, May 12, Kiambu High Court declared that a former Riruta Member of the County Assembly (MCA), Samuel Ndung'u, and two others had a case to answer for the death of the MCA's ex-wife.
According to the judge, the prosecution had proved the suspects were involved in the murder.
The mother of one was found dumped in Kamiti in January 2018 before she was rushed to the Kenyatta National Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Reports alleged that she was assaulted and her body doused in acid before the body was disposed of.
"The prosecution relied on evidence which it claims connects the accused person to the murder," the judge ruled.
While appearing before the court, the legislator pleaded not guilty to the charges against him.
The prosecution and the defence were ordered to file their submissions before the hearing slated for June 15 and 16, commences.
In 2018, Ndung'u was held in police custody and accused of being in possession of murder weapons.
The suspect had applied for bail, but the family of the deceased's lawyer opposed the application arguing that he may threaten the witnesses and tamper with evidence.
Family members claimed that the deceased had frequent wrangles with the spouse and had moved out of her matrimonial home with their child.
She was allegedly picked up by a politician and three men from her apartment along Kiambu Road and drove off in a saloon car.
According to pedestrians who found her body, she barely spoke due to the pain of severe burn wounds.
