KNEC Releases KCPE Timetable, Important Dates to Note

Parents and other education stakeholders on Tuesday, May 16, were urged to take note of various dates in preparation for the Kenya Certificate of Primary School Education (KCPE) 2023.

In a statement, the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) published the timetable beginning from October 27 to  November 11.

"The 2023 KCSE, KCPE, KPSEA, and KILEA Assessment timetables are now available on the KNEC website," read part of the statement.

From the timetable, rehearsals will be on Friday, October 27. On Monday, October 30, learners will begin with Mathematics from 8.30 am to 10.30 am.

However, mathematics (braille) will take two hours and 30 minutes. KNEC noted that no extra time will be allowed.

Candidates will later sit for English section A from 11.30 am to 1.10 pm. The paper for the hearing and visually impaired will take two hours and two hours and 10 minutes respectively.

From 2.30 pm to 3.10 pm, the learners will sit for English section B with those with visual and hearing impairment granted 10 extra minutes.

On the second day, Tuesday, October 31, the pupils will start with Science from 8.30 am to 10.10 am and 8.30 am to 10.40 am for students using braille.

From 11.10 am to 12.50 pm learners will sit for Kiswahili lugha and those using braille will be allocated 30 extra minutes.

In the afternoon from 2.10 pm to 2.50 pm, the students will sit for Kiswahili Insha where those using braille will be given 10 extra minutes.

Wednesday, November 1 will be the last day and candidates will take Social Studies and Religious Education from 8.30 am to 10.45 am and 8.30 am to 11.15 am for those using braille.

"The Kenyan Sign Language papers should be taken only by candidates with Hearing Impairment (HI)," KNEC added.

Furthermore, the council issued guidelines to the supervisors, teachers, and candidates to be followed before, during, and after the national exams.

KNEC advised that candidates should not commit any examination irregularity to avoid having their results canceled.

"Supervisors and Invigilators should ensure that candidates are issued with personalized mark sheets that bear their correct names and index numbers," the council directed.

All students are required to be seated 15 minutes before the tune scheduled for the exam and only on unavoidable circumstances will students be allowed to enter the exam room after 30 minutes.

They are further asked to ensure their names and index numbers are correct on the exam paper.

Candidates are also not allowed to talk during the exam or leave the room with any material or enter the room with extra materials example books.

"Any misconduct or causing of disturbance in or near the examination room will be treated as an examination irregularity. Any candidate caught in possession of a cell phone/any other electronic communication device will have his/her results canceled," read part of the guidelines.

KNEC also listed penalties for anyone who violates the rules in line with Sections 27, 30, and 31 of the KNEC Act.
