Andrew Mudenyo Kumbe, a single dad living in Githurai, on Sunday, May 21, pleaded with wellwishers to help him bury his twin son who died of heart complications.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kumbe who works as a carpenter narrated that he had been raising the twins alone after they were abandoned by their mother.

Kumbe stated that the mother of the twin, who was a private school teacher, left the two children in front of his workshop at 1:00 am in December 2022. The two were only two months old at the time.

He added that at the time, he did not have much money because his business was not doing well and he had decided to move in with the lady to save on rent and take care of the children together.

Kumbe, however, noted that the mother of the twins was not patient with him and decided to return to her parents leaving the two children, who were not in good health, under his care.

"We decided to move to her house because I was behind on three months' rent. After she delivered, she was not patient because we did not have money.

"I later learnt that her mother sent her money to move back home. I just heard the children crying at 1:00 am outside the workshop and never heard from her again," he narrated.

He spent the night with the twins at his workshop before he was able to afford rent and move back into his own house.

Andrew stated that one of the twins was born with respiratory problems and, therefore, spent several nights in the hospital.

The ill child, however, passed on in his sleep despite treatment.

"The child had health problems and I had to spend several nights with both of them in the hospital. After we left the hospital, we were supposed to go back for an X-ray but the child died that night," added Andrew.

The father stated that he had struggled to raise funds to organise the burial of the child and could only make a coffin since he was a carpenter.

He called on well-wishers to help him raise the necessary funds to bury the child and treat the other twin who fell sick but was in stable condition.

At the time he spoke to Kenyans.co.ke, he had raised Ksh38,000 from well-wishers.

"Well-wishers have sent me ksh38,000 but we have not yet figured out transportation to and from the burial site," he stated.
