President William Ruto's United Democratic Alliance (UDA), on Friday, June 9, embarked on a nationwide campaign to rebrand and gain popularity among the youth.

Comedian and former political aspirant, Jasper Muthomi, alias Mc Jessy, was tasked with engaging the youth to craft a national UDA anthem.

MC Jessy explained that through the Talanta Hela initiative, the Sports Cabinet Secretary, Ababu Namwamba, and a UDA team would traverse the country, engaging creatives to develop an appealing theme song.

"Through the support of the CS, UDA, and the secretary general (Cleophas Malala), we are looking for a UDA anthem. We will be touring the country with the talented young people," Muthomi explained.

"Thank you, SG Malala. Because of you, we will have a  big national anthem," the comedian added.

The emcee spoke during the official launch of the Talanta Hela initiative at State House, where Ruto and other leaders were in attendance.

Ruto interacted with the youth during the campaigns by selling the hustler narrative, promising to transform the economy from the bottom up.

To help the youth, the creatives asked Ruto to ensure that the systems at the Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK) are digitised to aid them in monetising their content.

"Kenya's strategic investment in exploitation will ensure the delivery of the finest pools of skilled and gifted youth who will amplify the nation's output in the sporting and creative fields," Ruto stated.

He added that competitiveness in the industry would create more jobs and income for the youth, thus driving the economy forward.

Ruto also commemorated the 70th Anniversary of the Safari Rally and launched the Sports and Creative Economy Master Plan.

"I take this early opportunity to share with you the outstanding significance of this event and why this moment is a very special milestone in our determined journey towards a radical socio-economic transformation of this country.

"Our determination to ensure that no one is left out of the dividends of the transformation has inspired us to implement interventions from the bottom up and touch every possible life and livelihood," Ruto stated.

On his part, Namwamba explained that with Talanta Hela, the youth in the industry will monetize their talents in line with the Kenya Kwanza manifesto

"Talanta Hela s targeting the entire spectrum of creatives. Its purpose is to consolidate all the aspects of music, film, pageantry, etc," the CS stated.
