Eli Omundu Khumundu, the former casual labourer of Lang'ata Member of Parliament Felix Odiwuor, better known as Jalang'o, on Sunday, June 11, narrated how his life changed after he was sacked for allegedly stealing Ksh1 million.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Eli revealed that he was forced to relocate to Bungoma County from Nairobi owing to financial constraints.

The father of five revealed that he resorted to menial jobs - working in mjengo (construction site) where he earns an average of Ksh200 a day.

He reminisced about working as a ground manager at Jalang'o's posh home where he earned Ksh15,000 monthly.

Prompted if he was in contact with his former boss, he pointed out that they exchange pleasantries occasionally on social media.

"We only talk on Instagram but have never discussed employment," he noted.

Eli reiterated that his five children were kicked out of school due to fees constraints. He urged Kenyans-of-goodwill to assist him in acquiring a lucrative employment opportunity in Nairobi County.

In addition, he lauded his wife, Ruth Akinyi, for standing by his side during his dark days.

"Her friends and relatives advised her to dump me after I was fired but I thank God she did not listen to the naysayers," he stated.

Eli, alongside Morrison Litiema, was sacked after being accused of stealing Ksh1 million from Jalang'o on June 4, 2022. It was reported that the duo took the cash from one of his vehicles before fleeing.

At the time, Jalang'o claimed that he took the high road and forgave them for their actions.

"What pains me the most is that Omundu and Litiema were like family to me. The betrayal hurts and I am now a shell of my former self," Jalang'o stated at the time.

While giving an account of the events, the MP stated that he had used the vehicle a day prior to the incident to attend a campaign meeting before returning it to the compound at night. He noted that the duo stole the cash after washing the vehicle.

"It never crossed my mind that the two had stolen from me until we noticed, three hours later, that the duo was conspicuously missing from the compound," he added.
